Game Recap:

Pontiac Silverdome - The Redskins had as much to do with ending their 18-game winning streak vs. Detroit as the Lions did. Washington came unraveled in the Silverdome, committing 14 penalties, allowing five sacks, throwing two interceptions and fumbling 6 times.

The Washington offense finally came to life in the third quarter on a 39-yard pass from Brad Johnson to Michael Westbrook to close the score to 20-17. But the Redskins made too many mistakes to complete the comeback. A sack of Johnson and the quarterback’s fumble that the Lions returned 11 yards for the final touchdown was the final and fatal error.

Note: Lions snap 18-game regular season losing streak to Redskins that dates back to Dec 15, 1968.
