Network Associates Coliseum - The Redskins ran off 19 unanswered points from the first through the third quarters and held off the Raiders to win in Oakland.
Washington got off to a great start as Brian Mitchell returned the opening kickoff 57 yards to the Oakland 40. That led to a 19-yard touchdown pass from Trent Green to fullback Stephen Davis. Oakland responded with a touchdown of its own, but Green tossed for two more TD’s. In between a Carry Blanchard field goal and a safety gave the Redskins what proved to be an insurmountable lead.
