Game Recap:

Jack Kent Cooke Stadium - No turnovers and solid defense ended the 7-game, season opening losing streak, gaining the team its first win in 44 weeks.

Trent Green was reinserted into the starting lineup at quarterback in place of the ineffective Gus Frerotte and Green immediately made Norv Turner’s decision look like a good one. Green was four of four passing during a game-opening drive that ended when Green himself ran over from a yard out to put the Redskins ahead 7-0.

But the Redskins had blown early leads in several of their previous losses and it seemed to be “oh, no, here we go again” when David Patten ran the kickoff back 90 yards to tie the score.

The Redskins showed some resilience on this day and drove to a touchdown on a Stephen Davis reception and held the Giants off the rest of the way.
