Game Recap:

Texas Stadium - “Not a bad day. Not a bad day at all.” That depends on your perspective. This opinion came from Dallas coach Tom Landry, who had watched his quarterback Steve Pelluer torch the Washington defense for 323 yards passing to help deal the Redskins their first loss of the year.

“It just wasn’t our day,” was the summary judgment of Joe Gibbs.

Trailing 16-0 at the half, Washington made a bid to climb back into it by driving for a touchdown on its initial second-half possession. After George Rogers’ two-yard scoring run, though, much of the air was let out of the comeback balloon when Mark Moseley missed the extra point. In the midst of a severe slump, the 15-year veteran speculated that this might have been his last game with the Redskins saying, “When the snake bites you, he bites hard.” (Moseley’s feelings turned out to be correct; the Redskins released him days after the game.)
