Giants Stadium - The Redskins, taking advantage of turnovers and poor special teams play by the Giants, started six scoring drives in New York territory to build a 30-point lead early in the fourth quarter to gain an easy win in the Meadowlands.
The pattern was set on the game’s first play when Dave Butz tipped a Scott Brunner pass and Dexter Manley picked it out of the air at the Giants’ 22. Four plays later, John Riggins scored from the two. A fumbled punt and a 50-yard kickoff return following a New York field goal set up two Mark Moseley field goals to put Washington up 13-3.
The rout was on and a pair of late Giant touchdowns only made the final slightly more respectable.
