RFK Stadium - The Redskins turned three first-quarter fumbles by Chargers running back Mike Garrett into three touchdowns to jump-start an easy win over San Diego.

Two of the scores were by defensive players. Early on, Garrett fumbled deep in his own territory and Verlon Biggs picked it up and stepped two yards for a score. Brig Owens had to go a little further to get his six points, 36 yards to be exact, late in the first quarter after Garrett’s third fumble. In between, it was Ken Houston with the strip and recovery at the San Diego 28 and Larry Brown with the touchdown from one yard out two plays later.
