RFK Stadium - The Redskins, aided by a few key Atlanta turnovers, overcame a 10-0 second-quarter deficit and beat the Falcons.
In between two touchdowns that were essentially gifts, however, is the drive that the Redskins wanted to focus on after the game. They took possession at their own 11 early in the third quarter and embarked on an 11-play drive for a touchdown. Kilmer passes to Charley Taylor and Roy Jefferson ate up large chunks of yardage and the quarterback finished it off with a 28-yard scoring pass to Larry Brown.
Note: Washington’s Larry Brown
ran for 82 yards and lifted his 1972 rushing total to 1,077 yards in 10 games.
His 50-game career rushing total reached 4,038, placing him alongside Jim
Brown (5,055) and Cookie Gilchrist (4,010) as the only players ever to rush
for 4,000 yards in their first four seasons.
