Game Recap:

DC Stadium - The Redskins had recovered from a dismal first half to tie the Saints at seven in the third quarter on the strength of a 6-yard TD pass from Sonny Jurgensen to Charlie Taylor. On the next series, New Orleans was forced to punt from its own 40. Then, in short order, it all came apart.

John Love fumbled the punt and tried to pick it up in the end zone. The Saints’ Dick Anderson tackled Love for a safety. The Walter “Flea” Roberts returned the ensuing free kick 68 yards to the one and Randy Schultz took it into the end zone on the next play for a 16-7 Saints lead.
