Pitt Stadium - The Redskins rallied from a 21-9 third-quarter deficit to defeat the Steelers.
After the Steelers scored a touchdown to build that margin, the Redskins responded immediately and got back into it with an 80-yard drive that culminated in a four-yard touchdown pass from Jurgensen to Charley Taylor. A Pittsburgh field goal blunted the momentum, but it was only a temporary interruption. A nice kickoff return by Fred Mazurek with a 15-yard roughing penalty tacked on had Washington in business at the Steeler 47. It took just two passes to Bobby Mitchell, one of 12 yards, the second a 35-yard scoring strike, to pull the Redskins within one at 24-23.
Jim Shorter intercepted a pass and returned it to the Pittsburgh 18. Taylor got all of the yardage needed to get to paydirt with receptions good for 12 and two yards, and the a pair of two-yard runs and Washington led 30-24.
