Game Recap:

DC Stadium - The Redskins had their chances but, as had been the case all season long, they shot themselves in the foot at key times and ended to season with a 27-20 loss to Cleveland.

Trailing 27-14 the Redskins got the break they needed when Jim Shofner fumbled a punt and Vince Promuto recovered at the Cleveland 38. Barnes scored on a 24-yard pass from Norm Snead soon after that and it was 27-20 with 4:55 left.

One step forward, two steps back. Bobby Khayat bounced the extra point try off the upright and the best the Redskins could hope for was a tie. That prospect vanished when Andy Stynchula was flagged for roughing the punter with two minutes left and the Browns were able to kill the clock.
