Game Recap:

DC Stadium - It was like a punch in the gut. The home crowd launched into a boisterous celebration when Norm Snead’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Pat Richter gave the Redskins a 28-27 lead with 2:38 left on the clock. The party, however, was short lived as Gary Ballman returned the ensuing kickoff 92 yards for the winning score.

This game went back and forth throughout. After Lou Michaels kicked a field goal to stretch the Steeler lead six, it appeared that the game’s last turn would favor the Redskins. Snead connected with Richter to send the stadium into a frenzy, a mood that Ballman quickly dumped cold water on. The home team managed to drive to the Steeler 25 after that, but four incompletions ended the Redskins hopes.
