Forbes Field - Earl Morrall, acquired just days earlier in a trade, passed for 248 yards and three touchdowns as the Steelers easily beat the Redskins in the season opener.
Trailing 7-0 in the third quarter, the Redskins tied it up on Eddie LeBaronís 38-yard touchdown pass to Ed Podoley.
It didn't remain tied for long. The Steelers took the ensuing kickoff and drove 72 yards for a touchdown. Morrall drove his team downfield steadily, mostly through the air, and Dick Young scored the six from three yards out.
Another interception of LeBaron, this one by Jack Butler, set up another Morrall touchdown pass and his final TD toss, his second to Mathews, came late in the final period.
