Polo Grounds - After getting slaughtered by a good team the week before, the Redskins explored another depth of mediocrity, tying the winless Bulldogs. New York’s performance could hardly be attributed to home field advantage as an intimate gathering of 3,678 witnessed this one at the Polo Grounds. After a Bobby Layne touchdown pass tied it up early in the fourth quarter, each team threatened in the late going, but both came up empty. Baugh completed a pass to Hal Crisler, who wasn’t satisfied with a 37-yard gain to the Bulldog 34. He at-tempted to lateral to Eddie Saenz but the pitch went awry and New York’s Jim Wade wound up with the ball. After that the Bulldogs moved into position to attempt a 39-yard field goal, but it was short. The same could be said of the Redskins’ efforts on this day.
