State Fair Park, Milwaukee - Dan Sandifer returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown to spark the Redskins’ win over the Packers. From the four, Sandifer found his wall and broke into open ground at his own 20. As he approached the goal, a trio of Packers was gaining ground and one caught up to him at around the five. All the hit did, though, was propel him into the end zone. Dick Poillon missed the conversion and it was 6-0 twelve seconds into the game. Green Bay, 14-point favorites, responded, taking the ensu-ing kickoff and driving 80 yards to a touchdown, but the Redskins retook the lead on Tom Farmer’s short TD run and never looked back.
